Friday 18th August 2023, the Tudu Center engaged stakeholders at the RAINS Conference room to discuss and resist the recent introduction of the Tamale International Airport ENTRY PAYMENT OF GHS5.00 for all vehicles.
The following civil society organizations were present during the engagement:

  1. Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Northern Region Chapter
  2. Muslims Council of Northern Region
  3. Dagbon Forum(DF)
  4. Ghana Union of Traders(GUTA) Northern Region Chapter
  5. Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA)
  6. RAINS
  7. Presiding Member of Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly
  8. Representatives of Chogu Naa
  9. Sagani TV
  10. Co- Founder of Tudu Center
The engagement agreed to resist this ENTRY PAYMENT introduced by the Ghana Airport Company and called on the general public and key interest groups to support this resistance.
At the end of the engagement session, a coalition involving these organizations was formed to come out with the required plan and strategy to engage further with the various interest groups to mount more pressure until the ENTRY PAYMENT at the airport is removed or suspended within the shortest possible time. The coalition also appealed to the general public to support them in getting this needless levy removed.
The coalition appealed to the government and it’s agencies to as a matter of urgency suspend or remove that levy.
The Tamale international airport recently moved to the new terminal and introduced a levy which requires any vehicle entering the premises of the airport to pay GHS5.00 irrespective of the purpose of entry. The Tudu Center on the 8th of August petitioned the Ghana Airport Authority to suspend or remove that levy and engage further with the citizens of Tamale. This petition was not responded to therefore necessitating the need for a stakeholder engagement over that matter.
